OMR Form Printing

Optical mark recognition (also called optical mark reading and OMR) is the technology of capturing human-marked data from checkboxes and fill in fields on pre-printed forms. OMR devices work with a dedicated scanner device that shines a beam of light onto the form. The technology scans the form reading predefined positions and records where those marks are on the form. The contrasting reflectivity at predetermined positions on a page is then used to detect these marked areas because they reflect less light than the blank areas of the form.

ICR form printing

Intelligent Character Recognition (ICR) is an advanced form of OCR. ICR software recognises the handwritten text and extracts it from the document. The content management system can then populate databases and distribute the information. The technology of both OMR and ICR is especially useful in situations where large numbers of hand filled forms need to be processed quickly and with great accuracy, such as examination printing, answer Papers, surveys, reply cards and questionnaires.

The student indicates the answer on the test by filling in the corresponding field, the form feeds through an OMR which reads the data from the marked fields, the error rate for OMR forms is less than 1%.
